Gassi-Touil
Integrated gas project
Algiers- Sheraton Hotel -November 17, 2004
On Wednesday November 17, 2004, at the Sheraton Hotel, Algiers, Sonatrach held
the public opening of the bid envelopes received from
companies responding in the Gassi-Touil integrated-gas project opened to an
international call for tender initiated in April 2002.
After analysis, evaluation and ranking of each of the bids from companies
received that very day, the deliberation process ended in the granting, during
the session, and in the presence of representatives from the responding
companies
and the press, of the Gassi-Touil integrated-gas project to the Spanish Repsol-Gas
Natural consortium.
With a
duration of 30 years and a development period of 54 months, the Gassi-Touil
integrated-gas project is a production sharing contract.
The project
development work covers the drilling of 52 development wells, taking over 16
existing wells and building surface installations for processing (extracting
condensates and LPG, decarbonation ) 22 million m3 per
day of raw gas, the construction of new capacity for transporting the 6.5
billion m3 of gas sold per year and the construction of a new liquefying plant
with a nominal capacity of 4 millions metric tonnes per year.
The interest shown by international oil companies in the Gassi-Touil
integrated-gas project clearly confirms the attractiveness of Algeria's mineral
resources sector.
