1. Production

The prospects for an economic revival allow to expect an appreciable increase for electricity consumption in the field of industry. Thus, production is expected to increase from 26,250 GWH in 2001 to 46,000 GWH in 2010.

2. Customers

The amount of expected customers will increase to 2,100,000 new subscribers over the said period and will reach 6,500,000 subscribers in 2010.

3. Physical investments

The developing consumption based on an average yearly rate of 6% allows to plan the following investments:

It is expected over the period 2001-2010, the starting of works of 800 MW of which 600 MW will be commissioned. 2000 MW of this capacity will cover the downgrading of the units planned on this period.

A supplementary capacity of lines of transportation and interconnection to be commissioned on the same period, are estimated to 5350 km of VHT lines and 2750 km of HT lines.

The number of stations and substations will be around 140 units.

Concerning the distribution system which is composed of medium and low tension lines, it is also expected to have a significant development: realisation of 100 000 km of MT and LT lines, 50 000 MT/LT posts (from 100 to 400 KVA) and 3.500.000 electricity-meters will be commissioned over the period 2001-2010.

4. Financial investments

The above mentioned physical achievements will need US$10 billion, shared out as follows:
