L’importance du secteur de l’énergie, dont celui des hydrocarbures, est établie et de notoriété publique, ne serait-ce qu’en raison de la part des exportations d’hydrocarbures, qui, représente aujourd’hui 98% des recettes du pays.

Si aujourd’hui le niveau des prix internationaux permet au pays de jouir d’une situation financière confortable, il y a une dizaine d’années à peine, la crise économique en Asie et ses répercussions, conjuguée à une décision inopportune de l’OPEP, avait conduit à un effondrement brutal des prix du pétrole au niveau de 10$/baril....
